- There is some confusion in the 1841 England Census as it suggests Charles Monk's wife was Sarah and not Mary. The age was also incorrect. I think the enumerator confused the wife Mary and the daughter Sarah. Mary's age would have been 30 and Sarah's 7.

With them were their children John, 6, Susan, 3, and Frances, 1. The parents were not born in Essex but the children were. Also present was Sarah Bard, 14, Servant born in Essex.

With him were his children Sarah A., 17, At Home Domestic, Frances, 11, School, Charles, 7, School, and Stephen, 5, School. All the children were reportedly born in Elmdon, Essex. Also present was charwoman Elizabeth Birton, widow, 64, Domestic from Elmdon, Essex.
